75th Anniversary Season Full of Promise for Midget Racing in the East
The American Racing Driver’s Club has released their schedule for the 2014 season when one of the oldest race sanctioning organizations in the world will celebrate their 75th Anniversary.
There will be several major changes for the 2014 season which should enable the club to build car counts and a fan base for the organization.
As announced in November, ARDC has adopted national midget rules in regards to engines for the 2014-2016 seasons, following the guidelines set forth by POWERi.
ARDC events will all pay $1,000 to win during the 2014 season and $125 to take the green flag.
ARDC has also endeavored to schedule more than two thirds of the 2014 schedule in an area determined to be within the club’s home foot print. There will be a total of eight shows at the Grandview Speedway including three Thunder on the Hill events, four Sunday night race events that will see the return of midget racing to the 1/3 mile banked oval in a double header show with the TriState Race Saver 305 Sprint cars. ARDC will also be part of the Friday night doubleheader that will feature Race of Champions Sportsman competition on Friday night, September 12th – the night before Grandview’s Freedom 76er.
ARDC will appear with the USAC Sprint Cars in June when Eastern Storm comes to town at Grandview, New Egypt, Port Royal and Susquehanna. The wingless warriors of ARDC will have three other dates at New Egypt including their 2014 season opener on April 19th. There will be two additional shows at Susquehanna – a second appearance on September 21st with the 410 Sprint Cars and then their season finale in Susquehanna’s Candy Bowl on October 26th.
ARDC will appear twice at Williams Grove – once in April with the All Stars and again on August 15 as part of an Anniversary Celebration weekend sponsored by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at Lattimore Valley. The Museum will serve as a home base for competitors that weekend who will be able to use the museum grounds to make preparations for Saturday night racing at the Lincoln Speedway as ARDC returns to Lincoln for the first time in several seasons.
There are two Friday night race dates scheduled at the Big Diamond Speedway on May 23rd and July 25th. The quarter mile track at the Bridgeport Speedway will welcome the wingless midgets back to action on Saturday, July 12th.
Two travel weekends are included in the 2014 schedule. ARDC will travel south to North Carolina to compete at the Clary Speedway for the first time on Friday night before moving on to the County Line Speedway for Saturday night competition on June 27th and 28th. On August 1st and 2nd, ARDC will travel to the Potomac and Winchester Speedways for a weekend of racing in Maryland and Virginia.
There will be a lot of excitement as ARDC celebrates it 75th Anniversary season in 2014!
