ARDC Midgets Join USAC Sprints for Three Shows
The Eastern Storm is coming to town and the wingless midgets of the American Racing Drivers Club will make three appearances this week with the USAC Sprint Cars during their East Coast tour.
Doubleheader action begins on Wednesday evening, June 5, at the Grandview Speedway when ARDC joins the USAC Sprint Cars in a Thunder on the Hill program. Three ARDC Champions will compete in Wednesday night’s competition – 2010 Champion, Steve Buckwalter, 2011 Champion, Drew Heistand and 2012 Champion, Tim Buckwalter.
Buckwalter has dominated ARDC action so far, winning the first three events of the 2013 season and equaling his win record from last season. Alex Bright and Bruce Buckwalter, Jr. have each won one race to date.
Bright was a four time winner to lead all competitors in ARDC competition last season. Bright will compete with ARDC on a part time basis for the remainder of the season as he moves into the RW Motorsports #27 and will compete in the Midwest in Poweri and selected USAC Midget events.
Both Steve and Tim Buckwalter were three time winners in 2012. Steve Buckwalter has already equaled that mark at this point in the season. His Elite Chassis have won all of the ARDC events so far this season.
Brenden Bright and Trevor Kobylarz each picked up two wins last season. Nick Wean, Steven Drevicki, Brett Wanner, Eric Heydenreich and Drew Heistand had one win a piece.
With the Grandview Speedway situated near Bechtlesville, PA, it is considered to be the “home” track of many of the ARDC competitors who look forward to competing near home and in front of family and friends.
On Saturday night, action moves to the Juanita Fairgrounds and the Port Royal Speedway for another doubleheader. Steve Buckwalter and Trevor Kobylarz were ARDC winners at Port Royal last year and one of Buckwalter’s wins this season came at the lightning fast Port Royal Speedway.
On Sunday, action concludes at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Drew Heistand’s 2012 win came during Candy Bowl action at Susquehanna last October. The 4/10 mile track is a favorite of many ARDC competitors.
This is the most intensive week of the season for ARDC competitors with three races in just five days.
